We just finished our first big stamp show – the St Louis Stamp Expo. We very much enjoyed meeting many of our long time customers and new customers also. I must admit though that three days sitting in a stamp booth is a long time! Collectors coming to the show were strongly interested in covers and cards – pretty much the opposite of what we concentrate on – stamps. We expected this and dug out a lot of covers and cards that we had stored away and reduced our supply of these. We will continue to do stamp shows but will lean towards shows that are one or two days long as opposed to three days – its either that or send my daughters to do the shows by themselves.
As I have been telling you – I now have two daughters working with me – Jill and Stacey. They are learning about German and Austrian stamps and, somewhat surprising to me, like stamps! Liking stamps makes it a lot easier to learn the details about collecting and selling them.
This month we have updated our Soviet Zone price list. We used Scott catalog for the Scott listed items but there are more Michel listed items than Scott items. Scott is not very good at identifying or valuing the Soviet Zone stamps. It has been a long while since we updated this list because we had a very depleted Soviet Zone stock. We have just acquired a couple of very comprehensive collections with many of the tough to find items which makes this update worth
while. The downside is that quite a few listings are one of a kind.
We are working on updating two lists – Austria Part III and German Colonies Part I – we have new stock in both areas and are not sure which list will be done for next month, but both will be completed by June. We are also working on adding more items to our web site listings to include more images.
OUR NEW ISSUES SERVICE
We ship new issues quarterly to our customers who subscribe to our service. Normally the shipments are posted within a few days after each quarter ends. Postal service from Europe is unusually slow now. Some registered shipments have been delayed as much as 60 days. Apparently the problem is somewhere in the New York City area.
As a direct result of these slow deliveries we are receiving our new issue shipments up to two months later than normal. Right now we are waiting for All 2015 Austria new issues – we don’t even have January new issues. We have not received February and March new issues for Germany either.
We will make our quarterly shipments as soon as the stamps arrive!! We are sorry for the delay.
AUSTRIA PHILATELIC SOCIETY (US)
The Austria Philatelic Society (US) is entering its 15th year as a stamp club focusing on the Austrian area. We have members throughout the US and abroad. The club is anchored by its quarterly bulletin and twice a year stamp auctions.
If you collect stamps and/or covers from the Austrian area you should consider joining our group; we have members from beginners to extremely advanced collectors. Dues are only $16 a year. Ask us for a free sample bulletin and application. Check out our website at www.AustriaPhilatelicSociety.com
If you collect Austrian stamps or covers give our club a try!!
ALTERNATE CHOICES
We frequently remind our customers to please provide alternate choices on their orders. We wish we had an unlimited supply of stamps, but we do not. We always fill your first choices if we have them and use your alternate choices only when we are sold out of your first choices. By providing alternates you insure that you will get stamps and not a refund!
