Another month at home! I have had so much spare time that I am running out of projects. I am fortunate that our business is conducted at my and my daughter’s homes so we have none of the problems that most businesses have these days. Stamp collectors are collecting away as there is little else to do for relaxation – which keeps us busy. I expanded my office shelving to accommodate our ever growing stock. It was an expensive project because I matched new shelving to the existing built in shelving and had to special order the wood and parts but I love all of the new capacity. I added built in file cabinets to the shelving so I can reach all of this year’s records without getting our of my chair – I am really getting lazy.
This month we are mailing an updated price list for Austria Part 1. As usual we have lots of new items added to this list but many of the varieties are one of a kind so check the list to see what you need. Next month we will update Germany list Part C which includes the regular issues up to 2020. We are also working on other price lists and may publish another Germany list for July. We are also working on adding more covers and cards to our web site lists. This is a painful process for us because it involves scanning images for each item listed – a long time consuming process. We are also trying to better organize our cover listings to make them easier to find.
2021 Scott Catalog Volume 1
Volume 1 Part B contains the Austria listings. There are no price changes from last year’s catalog. The only new listings are the 2019 new issues so if you don’t collect other countries listed in Volume 1, the cost of a new catalog is not worth while.
Our Treasure Boxes
We have been offering these boxes for about 10 years – almost every customer who has tried one box has ordered another. We have quite a supply of treasure box material – excess stock, areas we don’t normally stock, and just plain stamps we don’t have time to examine. We always insure that there are stamps of value included in the boxes but otherwise don’t check anything. There of course will be a lot German and Austrian related stamps and covers in the lots but there can be almost anything philatelic, These lots are designed for collectors who like to search through lots of philatelic items. Each $175 lot is different from the others and each will fill a medium priority box.
We have been selling a lot of our treasure boxes because the large volume of stamps and covers gives collectors a lot of pleasure searching through the pile. We still have a lot of boxes ready to mail!
Our Online Specials
We offer specials on our web site regularly. For some reason we sell fewer of these than we expected to sell. It seems that our web site customers just don’t notice the special listings. We think this is happening because we frequently get orders for items in the regular listings which are also offered in the specials section at a lower price.
We also list items in the special sections which don’t quite fit into our regular categories – e.g. mini-collections and unusual varieties.
